This Month in Nashville: May 2016
by Edley Newman
We’ve got some great events going on in May.
From concerts to farmer’s markets, there’s something for the whole family! See what’s happening in Music City!
Full Moon Pickin’ Parties begin in May
Join the Nashville’s best Bluegrass musicians at Warner Park for the Full Moon Pickin’ Party! This family friendly event is $20 for adults, $7 for 7-17 year-olds and FREE for children 6 and under. Bluegrass and roots pickers jam in circles under the trees and around the grounds, while three headlining acts perform on the main stage. All funds raised by the Pickin’ Parties go directly toward protecting the Warner Parks as well as funding educational programs and special projects that benefit park-goers of all ages!
WHERE: Warner Park Equestrian Center
2500 Old Hickory Boulevard
Nashville, TN 37221
WHEN: 7-11 p.m., Fridays closest to the full moon. The first event is May 20th! Check the website for dates throughout the summer and fall.
Put on your best hat and seersucker! Held on May 14th this year, at Percy Warner Park, the Iroquois Steeplechase is the premiere spring race in American steeplechasing and Music City’s traditional rite of spring – typically attracting more than 25,000 spectators. Since 1981, this illustrious event has benefited the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. There is nothing like the Iroquois. It’s the perfect combination of Southern gentility and sport with history and traditions that date back to 1941.
Ryman Auditorium – Dylan Fest
Don’t miss this tribute to Dylan coming to the Ryman on May 23rd & 24th. Born out of the Lower East Side of New York, Best Fest has grown from a few Dylan junkies wanting to celebrate his music to some of music’s biggest names jumping on board and traveling to pay tribute to Bob Dylan! This event will likely sell out. Get your tickets now!

Enjoy games like GIANT Jenga, Skit It, and 4 Square. My So-Called Band will be performing all your favorite 90’s hits. Put on your best overalls, vintage Raybans, and scrunchies and get ready to party like it’s 1995! Proceeds will benefit Greenways for Nashville.
